Diffusion of Innovations

June 20, 2021

The internet is something that everyone uses. We are using it right now in order to take this course online. It offers us so much from funny cat videos to articles about the latest news to answers to our every question. The internet is a library of online data that we can access with the click of a keyboard or tap of a finger. It is versatile and unique, unlike anything else that has been created adopt before.

Internet caught on and spread because it has so many dense networks which contain a variety of information and have a system that allows you to access that piece of information thus connecting you to the World Wide Web. So many people become early adaptors because of how adaptable the internet is and because of how much information you can access. Many people saw you could use the internet to communicate with other people and change the way people viewed certain things or to even create new things or look for information more easily. These are the people who helped to shape the internet into what it is today. Some people are late adaptors of the internet because they just don’t feel the need to use it or they use don’t understand how to use it. The same can be said for why some people don’t adopt the internet at all.

The downsides of the internet are that it brings new dangers to the already dangerous world, such as identity theft or hacking. It also made people less likely to connect to other people since they can use things like social media or they just don't bother talking to others anymore as they are more interested in the internet. It also allows for there to be more bullying online and for people to use it as a way to maintain society's view on beauty standards.

One of my favorite comedians said why would I pay attention to my wife when I can look at this little box (iPhone) which is frankly much more interesting. This is frankly very true since we tend to be more absorbed in our phone and the internet then we are in the people around us.

It is the precursor to the modern day printer. Which is something I know almost everyone uses to printing out assignments or class work of printing out forms for work. Printed items are used in so many aspects of our day-to-day lives. From books, magazines, photos, newspapers, textbooks, money, etc. That if it hadn’t been for the creation of the printing press, we would probably not have access to these items as easily or at all.  The printing press also contributed to increasing the literacy rate since it made it easier to create and print books. Since you could mass produce the books using the printing press, you would decrease the time it took to create the book. Which made more books available in a shorter amount of time and decreased the cost of the book. This meant that books were more available to people, ...

In the Age of AI When we think of the future, we think of things like self-driving cars, robots, and flying cars. We think little about how those things have been created. And many of us prefer to stick our heads in the sand and not think about how those things will be created, used, or how they will affect us.  We like to think that it is either all sunshine and rainbows or is all terminator level apocalyptic bad. It has only been in the last few decades where we have seen a middle party of it has the potential to be either good or bad depending on how you use the information given to you and how we are currently at a crossroads as one-race humans are going to be possibly be going on a journey that we have no really proper equivalent to in terms of experience so there are many unknowns to us that we have to try and learn and consider. The video brings up a lot of information about AI and the possible future outcome of AI. It starts off somewhat positive with the Go game AI ...
